Gastronomy, premium wines, and outback activities that make the most of the Northern Territory are included in this special long weekend hosted by Voyager Estate at Bullo River Station.
Travellers looking for an immersive food and wine experience in the Australian outback can book a new journey at Bullo River Station in the Top End, hosted by Tim Shand, the Chief Winemaker for Voyager Estate. Taking place from 1–4 September, the all-inclusive event will feature wine tastings, authentic outback experiences, and intimate hosted dinners.
Bullo River Station is a 40,000-acre working cattle station in the Northern Territory, near the Western Australia border, owned by Voyager Estate proprietor, Alexandra Burt, and her husband, Julian Burt.
A provisional itinerary sees guests settling in with a preview tasting on day one, which will feature special release and museum wines from the prestigious Margaret River winery, known for its organic chardonnay and cabernet. Those interested in taking advantage of the region’s minimal light pollution can then join an optional stargazing experience to try and spot constellations in the Milky Way.
On day two, guests will take a guided tour to see Aboriginal rock art from the ancestors of the Miriuwung-Gajerrong people, before a BBQ lunch at Marlee’s Bath, with a picturesque waterhole.
A cruise of the Bullo Gorge will uncover its striking rock formations and wildlife such as saltwater crocodiles and rock wallabies. Back at the station, guests can relax or join an optional stock horse experience. A tutored tasting with dinner will offer the opportunity to sample Shand’s favourite Australian wines.
Day three will see guests take to the skies for a short helicopter flight over the scenic landscapes of Bullo. Touring the natural attractions of Paperbark Valley will be followed by a BBQ lunch at Lakeview Huts. In the afternoon, there’s an optional damper cooking class before the sun sets and guests sit down for a final dinner under the stars.
The next morning, early risers may wish to join birdwatching at the Billabong to spot some of the 200 bird species that call the station home, before joining other guests for a final breakfast at the homestead.
Rates for the three-night journey are $4,050 per person, staying in a King Ensuite Room. Wine tastings, workshops, meals, and outback adventures are included in the rate, which excludes flights, transfers, and helicopter touring.
