If you’ve ever traveled to the Middle East you know it’s unavoidable to enjoy its distinctive charm, the unique culture, the intensive smells, the music, the spices, the rich blends, the uber hospitable people, and for sure, the vastness of the desert!
On my recent trip to Oman, I have been wandering non-stop at the ruined villages of Birkat al Mawz and I have also visited Muscat and the well known Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. On this post, I am going to share my u-n-i-q-u-e 4×4 Jeep Safari experience at Wahiba Sands Desert. All my experiences at the Sultanate of Oman, can also be found at my full 5-day Oman Travel Guide!
The desert, also known as Sharqiya Sands, extends 180 kilometers from the north to the south. It is easily accessible from Muscat and in about 3 hours and with no hassle at all, you will be able to experience this incomparable desert magic!
Driving among the 200m high – golden Wahiba Sands Sand Dunes, especially during sunset, is an experience definitely worth living! You can combine the safari with a visit to the Wadi Bani Khalid oasis with its turquoise waters, palm trees and white rocks to be the highlight of your journey!
There are no permanent structures at Wahiba Sands Desert except for wandering Bedouins, but I would hardly miss the opportunity to spend the night there, as it is on the list of experiences you need to live at least once in your life!
