Bodhi Spa Group’s new retreat in Yallingup offers a series of restorative wellness treatments in a serene lakefront setting.

The Perth-based spa group Bodhi has opened a new wellness destination in the Margaret River region of Western Australia, set on the shores of Lake Gunyulgup in Yallingup.

Joining the group’s other day spas in Cottesloe, Highgate, Wembley, the Westin hotel in Perth, and the Qantas Business Lounge at Perth International Airport, the Yallingup location will deliver holistic therapies using a range of botanical spa products.

The spa’s position on Lake Gunyulgup—which fittingly means ‘resting place near water’—provides serenity for guests to unwind.

Holistic treatments and rituals are offered in the spa using products from Sodashi, MUKTI Organics, and Emma Lewisham. Infrared sauna, LED light therapy, hydrotherapy baths, and chakra balancing are some of the treatments on the menu, alongside highlights such as the brightening facial, which incorporates lymphatic drainage for radiant skin.

Design notes

Interiors were conceptualised by Pattern Studio, which used the surrounding natural features to inform the colours and textures used in the design. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide a connection to the water, skylights lend plenty of natural light, and a neutral colour palette instils calm.

Lily Goodwin, Principal at Pattern Studio, said “Our intention with the design was to create a sense of utter serenity, cultivating a feeling of calm and balance. The design is intentionally understated so as not to compete with or detract from the surrounding landscape. We hope that guests feel an ultimate sense of relaxation, in every sense of the word. Bodhi are specialists at creating a warm, inviting atmosphere; this new space was designed to be an extension of this ethos.”

Sustainability notes

The spa features 71 solar panels on the roof, which provide most of the property’s energy needs, while a 220,000-litre rainwater tank was installed to capture the water needed for the spa. Landscaping was also carefully planned to include a range of water-wise native flora, and guests can expect to see abundant wildlife such as kangaroos from the spa’s terrace.
