A couple of years ago, Girard-Perregaux announced partnering with Aston Martin, both for its road cars and its Formula 1 team. Since then, this strategic alliance has resulted in 3 watches, with two of them bearing the most classic colour when it comes to racing UK-style, the emblematic British Racing Green tone. As you would expect, this was for the dial. Except that the latest GP x Aston Martin watches are greener than ever. Meet the Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Limited Editions, cool and colourful versions of GP’s luxury sports watch in 38mm or 42mm.

So far, the collaboration between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin gave birth to a complex Tourbillon With Three Flying Bridges (which was not really showing the AM connection), a Laureato Chronograph in steel with green dial and a more modern take on the brand’s integrated-style watch, the Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition – which celebrated racing by using carbon taken from F1 cars to make its case. As you can expect, being branded Aston Martin, and since the F1 cars’ livery is (of course, should I say) racing green, most models in this collection play on green tones. Expect that the latest watches are far greener.

All green, from dial to bracelet. That’s the best way to describe these new Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin. Available either in 38mm or 42mm versions, the case is here made of green-coloured ceramic – a rather discreet tone of green, which does feel quite high-end – finished and designed in the traditional Laureato way. This means a barrel-shaped case with brushed surfaces, polished accents and a raised bezel combining a circular lower part and an octagon. Despite the new material, everything remains identical compared to a steel model, even the 100m water-resistance, and the overall feel of the watch is very pleasant.

The 38mm version is slightly thinner, at 10.27mm, compared to a still reasonable 11.08mm height for the 42mm model. Both come on an integrated green ceramic bracelet, with horizontally brushed H-links and polished middle links. Regarding the feeling on the wrist, the choice depends on your tastes… Compact or slightly oversized, you have options. The bracelet is closed by a metallic triple-fold clasp.

The dial of these Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin is reminiscent of what the brand used for its 2021 Laureato Chronograph. Of course, the main difference is that we’re here in front of time-and-date models, with a sleeker display. The cross-hatching pattern and British racing green colour are clear references to the past and present of Aston Martin – the pattern is inspired by a vintage AM logo as well as the quilted seats found in some of Aston’s cars. It is here equipped with applied markers and openworked hands, both filled with Super-LumiNova. The date, nicely positioned on the periphery of the dial on the two editions (thanks to a different movement, sized according to the case diameter), is matching the colour of the dial.

Inside the case of the 38mm is the automatic calibre GP03300, while the 42mm edition relies on the automatic calibre GP01800. Both are classic time-and-date, tried-and-tested and finely decorated in-house movements. They, however, have different architectures. The GP03300 is a compact movement, with a 46h power reserve, while the GP01800 is large at 30mm in diameter, and benefits from more space to have a longer power reserve of 54 hours. Both can be admired via a see-through caseback, personalised with the Aston Martin logo.
