SO/Paris

SO/ has a stylish new address in Paris, close to Notre Dame and the trendy Marais neighbourhood.

One of the City of Light’s newest luxury hotels, SO/Paris has recently opened its doors on the banks of the Seine in the 4th arrondissement, showcasing a stylish design influenced by the worlds of fashion and art.

The hotel is set within La Félicité Paris Sully-Morland, a redevelopment project led by David Chipperfield Architects and CALQ Architecture, which has transformed a former municipal building into a hospitality complex. Alongside SO/Paris, the development will be home to an indoor farmer’s market, retailers, a bakery, and an art gallery.

The hotel’s 140 guest rooms and 22 suites are set across seven floors, each offering views of Paris’ famed landmarks, some of which are just a short walk away. Guests can visit a trendy restaurant and bar on the hotel’s top two floors, as well as Maison Codage Spa, which is run in partnership with the French wellness brand. The Ô Zenhit sports club with a 20-metre pool is also directly accessible to hotel guests.

Design Notes

Architecture studio RDAI was responsible for the design of the guestrooms, which have a warm, sophisticated feel with contrasting colours and classic, chic décor. Artist Thomas Fougeirol was commissioned to create a group of 113 photograms and five photomontages for the rooms, which are said to be inspired by his walks along the Seine.

In line with SO/’s partnerships with renowned global fashion designers (including Christian Lacroix and Viktor & Rolf), La Maison Patou Artistic Director Guillaume Henry was enlisted to design the staff uniforms to complement the avant-garde feel of the property.

Jordane Arrivetz from the creative agency, Notoire, was the interior designer charged with conceptualising the look and feel of Bonnie, the hotel’s restaurant, club, and bar. Positioned on the top two floors of the building, the design evokes the warmth, shapes, and textures of the 1960s and 1970s and offers panoramic city views. It features a large-scale mirrored artwork, The Seeing City, by Olafur Eliasson and Sebastian Behmann, reflecting Paris’ beauty.

Room rates start from AUD$690 per night.
